Participants will gain a thorough understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and an overview of current intervention techniques. Content will include diagnostic characteristics, current theories regarding causation, communication challenges, sensory and behavioural considerations, anxiety and ASD, social skill difficulties and Asperger Syndrome. Intervention strategies for all areas will be reviewed.
Participants will be required to write a brief evaluation. There will be assignments throughout the course.
PLEASE NOTE: This course is designed for people who are currently supporting an individual with an ASD and will be limited to 20 participants. To successfully complete this course, participants must attend ALL sessions, complete ALL assignments at a satisfactory level, and achieve at least 80% on the final evaluation. Contingent upon this criterion, participants will receive a certificate indicating that they have received Autism Intervener Certificate Course – Level 1 Training from Geneva Centre for Autism.
